One in 3,630 - why your newsletter isn’t converting (and what to do about it)

Every day, the average person receives 121 emails.
That’s 3,630 emails a month.
If your business sends just one monthly newsletter, that’s one email out of 3,630 fighting for attention.
Not great odds.
And yet, that’s exactly what most B2B brands do: send one newsletter a month and hope it “nurtures” their audience.
Guess what? It doesn’t.
Most monthly newsletters don’t convert.
In every conversation I’ve had with B2B teams this year, I hear the same thing:
“Yeah, we send a monthly newsletter.”
“And does it bring in sales?”
“We barely see any.”
The problem isn’t the content (though it sometimes is), it’s the consistency.
Marketers used to say it takes 7 touchpoints for someone to buy.
Now some smart folks say that this number can be 10x higher (or more than that!).
But to make things easier, let’s use the 7 touchpoint rule: If you send one email a month, and your subscriber doesn’t see your message anywhere else (because, for example, your posts on social media don’t show up for them) it’ll take you at least 7 months before a subscriber even considers converting.
And that’s assuming they remember who you are.
People don’t think about your brand nearly as much as you do.
If they only see your name in their inbox 12 times a year, you’re not building familiarity, let alone trust.
This isn’t a “just send more emails” argument.
No one needs more inbox noise.
It’s about increasing your visibility without becoming spammy.
That means:
Showing up consistently (2x/month is the new minimum)
Creating focused, valuable, human content
Building recognition and trust over time
When you email strategically with intention you become familiar, credible, and easy to remember.
That’s when your subscribers start buying.
If your current newsletter schedule isn’t converting, it’s not because email, as a channel, doesn’t work anymore.
It’s because once a month isn’t nearly enough.
