How to plan a predictable email marketing strategy in such unpredictable times

Updated: Oct 28, 2024

Where do you see yourself, or your business, in 6 months?

A couple of people in several of my circles shared recently that they can’t think of anything beyond next month.

And it makes sense.

Even if you’re not a U.S. citizen, this year has been A LOT.

More than 100 countries had or will have elections this year, and the winds of change are blowing. My my, are they blowing...

I’ve been to 8 countries this year and felt a breeze of hope with a whiff of underlying fear for the future in the air in every single one of them.

No wonder many people and businesses prefer to “see what happens next” and stick to what they already know before committing to new long-term engagements.

If you’ve been feeling it yourself, I see you.

We’re in the same boat of unpredictability.

But you also want to see results, fast - just without blowing off the roof.

The good news is that if you have the right foundations, a few simple tweaks to your email marketing can bring you those fun, quick wins.

Tweaks like:

  • Sending strategically timed and crafted emails when your subscribers are super engaged (think welcome emails, abandoned cart emails, post-purchase emails…)

  • Using features like conditional text blocks in your emails to show subscribers solutions they are more likely to be interested in

  • Segmenting your list based on how your subscribers behave, and what you want to learn about them

That’s also one of the reasons why I shifted my offers this year to a tiered “shorter engagements - bigger impact”:

  • One hour can give you the clarity you need to plan a sequence for both revenue and impact.

  • A day can give you the guidance you seek and find multiple ways to convert more of your subscribers without compromising on your values.

  • And if you need more than a day to make your emails work and you can see further into the future, reach out to me wherever we’re connected. I’ve got solutions for you.

(Don’t get me wrong, email is a long game. No one can guarantee you that “a single email will make you 7 figures”, because a. There’s no such thing as an “overnight success”, b. Marketers who guarantee specific results are the most dangerous kind and c. Aren’t those revenue claims a bit old by now?)

But let’s start small.

One foot in front of the other.

Let's find those hidden quick wins in your list or plan for the predictable future that you can (and we both want to) see.
