The birthday tradition that has turned into my favorite Ethical Emails ritual

November is my birthday month. And even though I don't like mentioning it, I've always used this month to have fun in my business and celebrate in a different way - by finding opportunities to create more impact for my clients.


Last year, I tested an idea with a subscribers-only promotion: donate a part of all proceeds from my consultation calls to a charity or organization of my clients' choice.


The clients who jumped on the offer loved it.


I loved it.


So much so that this donation pledge became a part of every one of my offers this year.


As of writing this, Ethical Emails is on track to donate ~3% of its yearly revenue (not profits!) to brilliant causes that make a real difference for people and the planet.


And recently, I was also part of a group of email marketers who raised $31,250 for the V Foundation for Cancer Research through the annual GURU conference.


Looking at these numbers in the past couple of weeks, I can't help but feel so damn proud of this small business that I started with a computer and a head full of dreams in my 13m² room in Berlin. 


If you had told me back then that in a matter of years, this business would support not only me, but people who do immense good for others, I would've asked you to pinch me.


Hard.


And at the same time, I want to do even more good before 2025 wraps up - both in the sense of giving back more, but also by helping good businesses get ready and excited about their email marketing in 2026.


Which led me to this year's birthday month/year-end promo idea -
